My name is Jennifer and I'm glad you're here. I am a Certified RN Psychotherapist with over 22 years of clinical mental health experience. I graduated from the University of Toronto in 2000 with a BScN and am committed to keeping relevant with the latest methods of therapy. The most important elements of my practice are empathy, collaboration, relationship and genuine interest.

Building relationships has brought me joy throughout my career but having the opportunity to do so with children and teenagers has been a real gift. Having worked with both the public and Catholic school boards to provide counselling to elementary and high school students, I have gained an understanding of the school system and of the challenges of rural mental health care. Combined with my background in Mental Health & Addiction and Psychiatric Emergency Services, I have a depth of knowledge and continue to strive to provide education and interventions based on the most up to date, evidence-based information.

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to share my life with my loving partner and husband, Dave, and our two exceptional daughters. Our household is completed by my loyal giant dog, Lu Lu, who joins me on daily hikes, as well as my horse, Athena. Having navigated the challenges of finding the right support for my family in the past, I understand the overwhelming nature of the process. If you believe I could offer valuable assistance to you or your child, please don't hesitate to contact me for a free initial assessment.

Therapy Approaches

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

I primarily use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, including Exposure Therapy and ERP. This evidence-based approach identifies and challenges negative thoughts and behaviors for healthier cognitive and emotional responses.

Exposure Therapy

Exposure Therapy, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), is a structured therapeutic approach aimed at reducing anxiety and OCD by desensitizing the patient to triggers and teaching healthier coping mechanisms.

SPACE Program

SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) is a parent-based treatment program for children and teens dealing with anxiety, OCD, and related issues such as fears & phobias, selective mutism, panic disorders & agoraphobia.

Other Approaches

I am adept in various methodologies and will select the most suitable approach for the patient. These additional techniques include Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
